Finally the government offers a free cell phone program through a company called Safelink Wireless powered by TracFone. The ‘Lifeline service’ requires you to provide some information so you can meet certain qualifications. The government supported program is only available in 20 states (states and eligibility requirements listed below) eventually majority of the U.S states will be added at a later date.
Overall” This service could benefit you greatly; if you can’t afford a cell phone bill. Think of it
this way; this is your lifeline. Indeed everyone should own a cell phone because pay phones continues to decrease rapidly around neighborhoods and shopping centers nationwide and #1 reason; personal emergencies. However the service is only provided to low income families depending on your state’s poverty level or guidelines.” Basically you have to be receiving some type of assistance or aid through the government. Disabilities, SSI or Unemployed could depend on the income you receiving weekly or monthly and your State requirements.
