On The David Letterman Show; Letterman mention about someone tried to blackmail him. Apparently Letterman been a victim of Extortion. In the show Letterman was serious about it; but kind of funny about it. He admits of sexual relations with women on the staff. However it was a good idea to come out and admit this on show;that aired on October 1,2009. “Better coming out of his own mouth then someone else.”

I guess this producer guy from 48 hours tried to blackmail him for 2 million dollars. David had
wrote this fake check; that’s how they caught the guy. The guy tried to blackmail him with a package in the car that contain some private information. No details on the contents of the package.

Overall” This happen all the time in show biz. A person might be jealous or envy you because of your popularity or something happen in the past. This guy must really need the cash or he was out for revenge.”I think this producer was with a women Letterman slept with.” I don’t think this will effect David Letterman career at all.

Reports indicate that the Extortionist is Robert J. Halderman a producer for 48 hours mystery. Also reports indicate that Halderman was in debt and Birkitt ex girlfriend.

Stephanie Birkitt who had a affair with Letterman that ended 6 years ago; Birkitt was Letterman’s assistant for nearly a decade.
